#140. Go to Catholic Mass

Catholic Mass

I don't have any pictures for this one.

But I did go! Matt and I went to St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church for Christmas Eve Mass. It was very interesting. I didn't really know what to expect, except for what I had seen in movies. There were parts that were the same, but most of it was different. We ended up setting in the third row center.

Not gonna lie, I felt like everyone was watching, even though they weren't. There were aspects of what I've seen on TV that I wanted to see, such as a traditional choir with robes. But the choir was dressed in normal clothing.

It was a good experience. I liked seeing what it was like and observing. :)

#106. Go to the shooting range and shoot guns

Probably one of my favorite afternoons. #newthings

The boys let me tag along on their trip to the shooting range to knock of #106. It was a lot of fun. Definitely a new experience, but it won't be the last time I go.

Here are the guns I shot:
12 gauge shot gun
.38 revolver
.380 handgun (my fav)
9 mm
.22 pistol

The group: John, me, Wes and Andrew. (Wes and Andrew provided the guns)

#143. Finish a puzzle (2000 pieces or more)

One more piece.

That is what I spent hours telling myself over the last few months. One more piece. I would go to bed if I could just fit one more piece. Puzzles are addicting to me. I love the strategy of finding the edges, grouping colors together, etc. It's very therapeutic to me. This one came at a good time. I was able to keep my mind focused to finish it.

2000 pieces.

And finally... after almost 3 months. Finished. :)

#148. Drive around looking at lights

'Tis the season...

Unfortunately, I can't get the videos I took to upload but I did drive around and look at lights.

On Christmas Eve, Danielle, Matt and I met at Starbucks to get something warm to drink. And from there drove around Springfield to see the Christmas lights. Lucky for us, one of the news stations made a list of the most popular, so Matt planned it all out. It was a lot of fun.

Growing up, we always drove around to look at lights on Christmas eve, so it was good to do that again. #tradition.

Later on, we grabbed Chinese food and went back to Matt's to watch White Christmas.

#86. Pick a (new to me) show and watch all the seasons

Alias.

This entry will be short and sweet. :)

The show I picked: Alias. Several people thought I would like it. And since I had so much time on my hands after surgery, I was able to finish the entire series in a few weeks. Overall, I did like the show. The first few season were great. I loved Jennifer Garner (Sydney) and Michael Vartan (Vaughn) together. The last season was very rushed. I felt like they could have gave it more depth. I had no clue when I first started that Bradley Cooper (Will) was going to be in it. So that made my day. However, I think I liked Greg Grunberg (Weiss) the best. I just wanted to be his friend in real life.

I'd recommend it.

#83. Go to silver Dollar city at Christmas

It's the most wonderful time of the year... at SDC

I had the privilege to go to Silver Dollar City (SDC) twice during the Christmas season. The first time was supposed to be for Run to the Lights, a 5k around SDC. However, since I was in an air cast, we (Melissa and I) did not stay for the race. Instead, we got to walk around and look at the lights. So pretty.

When you register for Run to the Lights, you receive a pass to come back to SDC anytime before the season is finished. That was the whole reason to sign up for the race. :)

So the second trip to SDC, was with Brandon, Shayla and John. We went during the day to ride all the rides. I realized I hadn't been to SDC to ride the rides in years. It was a lot of fun. Especially the new ones. Outlaw Run was insane!!! I didn't like it at all. ha ha. But it was a fun day! And I even ran into my cousin I hadn't seen in forever.

#98. Have surgery to fix carpal tunnel in my wrist

Finally...

I can not begin to tell you how happy having this surgery has made me. It was a long time coming: restless nights because my fingers were numb, frustration of not being able to write anything without pain, etc.

My surgery was on Tuesday, Nov. 26. Two days before Thanksgiving.

Dr. David W. Schippert, my doctor, was amazing. The surgery didn't take long at all. I was "awake" for most of it. I think the most painful part of the experience was trying to get an IV.  My veins were not very cooperative, thus bruising.

I had this wrap for a week or so. You never think of what all you do with both hands, or even your dominant hand, until you can't use it. I went for about a week using only one hand. It was harder than I thought. But each day I got stronger.   And my lovely bruise. It looks better in the photo than it did in person. This was after a couple of days. #blacknblue

Stitches! This was my first time ever to have stitches. It was gross, but cool at the same time. The cut in my wrist/hand was an awkward place but any movement stretched the skin a bit. But after a while, it wasn't sooo bad. There were times when I could tell I was over doing it because there was pain.

On the right, was after I got the stitches out (2 weeks after surgery). Crazy how quickly the body heals and comes back together.

And today... I have a little bit of a scare, but not too bad. There's a little bit of pain every once in a while, but that's normal while I build the muscles back up.

#89. Run a 5k

The Diva Dash 5k - Springfield

Another 5k in the books. I did end up walking this one, due to my ankle still not being the greatest, but I did complete it. I will not lie, the best part of this 5k, and probably the only reason I got out on a Saturday morning in 35 degree weather... the medal! That makes 2 in my collection.

The Diva Dash 5k was a lot of fun to do. It was originally scheduled for the first Saturday in December, but there was so much snow/ice it was postponed. The weather was nice, except for the cold.

Against my better judgement, I am putting this picture on here. I don't like how I look, but we all have to start somewhere.
