#17. Do Something Different with My Hair

#17. Do Something Different with My Hair

I know doing something different with your hair isn't going to be a big deal with most people. But for me it has become a bigger deal. For the last four years, I have been trying so hard to grow my hair out. I wanted long hair. Begging my hairdresser when she would cut it to only cut what she absolutely needed to. I had never grown my hair out before and always wanted long hair.

I'm not sure the driving force behind wanting to suddenly change that a week ago. Maybe it's because so much other things are changing, I thought I would contribute a change I could control.

Anyway... here it is. The before and after. It was a sudden change to cut it off so I didn't have a picture of my hair dry. About 6 inches was cut off. After finishing I looked at the ground, and back to my hairdresser and my stomach sank. I loved, and still love, the hair cut, but it was so much hair.

I love when a few of my list can be marked off in one adventure. John and I met Melissa in Kansas City on Saturday, June 7th, for a Royals vs. Yankees baseball game.

Since we were out of town, we decided to try something new for lunch before the game. After a couple of recommendations from friends on where to find good bbq by the stadium, we went with Gates BBQ. Apparently, it is the third best bbq in Kansas City. It was really good. I didn't really know what to get so I just picked something and tried it.

I got a double-decker sandwich. It was ham and beef. It was good. But I couldn't eat all of it.

Next, it was on to Kauffman Stadium for the game. After rain all week, we were happy to have a perfect day for baseball. It was absolutely beautiful day.

KC Royals tore it up. KC beat the Yankees 8-4. It was a great game. Full of funny moments from people in the stands.

Friday, June 13, 2014. A day trip to Tulsa, Oklahoma.

We had planned the trip for a few weeks. With so many changes in the ministry, it was a chance for the Development Crew and our new leader, Pastor Dan, to get away for an all day meeting and some fun.

Having worked doubles all week, coffee was the first thing on my mind when I woke up on Friday morning. So I stopped by Starbucks for my usual... white chocolate mocha. So delicious. I have been trying to not spend money on things that are not necessities, so I haven't had coffee in a while. But coffee was an essential if I was going to make it through the day without falling asleep.

Once we were on the road, we were in Tulsa in no time at all. The first stop was Ted's Cafe Escondido. It was a place Stephanie had taken me when I came to pick her up. It is delicious. If you're ever in the area, I would recommend it. Not only do you get complimentary chips and salsa, but also queso and sopapillas. The prices were not bad at all and you get a lot of food for your money.

(L) I got tostadas. Unfortunately, I had already filled up on chips and queso, I couldn't finish all of mine. But it was scrumptious.

After lunch, we went to Garden Ridge: The store of endless possibilities. There's a reason the store has the name. It was a store full of inspiration. I could buy so many things in that store for my apartment and/or future house. It was like shopping off of pinterest. It has the supplies to make so many of the ideas I have pinned a reality. But I did make it out of the store without buying anything. It was really hard, but like I stated... necessities.

Next stop, and where number sixteen comes in. We stopped at Jamba Juice. It was my first time trying it. I ordered the Caribbean Passion Smoothie. It was refreshing and quite filling. We sat outside in the sun and talked for a while before getting in the car and heading back. It was relaxing.
